The last week of the traineeship has arrived

Events of the third week

The third and final week of the internship has come and it has added new knowledge and experiences to the previous weeks. At the beginning of the week, the students were already engaged in familiar tasks; they continued the work of building the high alpine meadows, clearing the hunting trails and scouting routes of avars and undergrowth, and creating new, more intricate scouting routes. On one day, they dismantled a pig pen in a nearby forest area that had become redundant due to African swine fever, but they also had the opportunity to visit Medveles again.

"The bears didn't let us down this time either, we saw a bear called Big Brown, and a pig came to have a treat on the sprinkler. They were not at all bothered by each other's presence, peacefully munching the corn 3-4 metres apart." (Récsei Kata)

In preparation for the approaching farewell, their evening activities included a visit to a nearby stream to collect pebbles, a final evening visit to Lakóca, where they spent a good-natured evening around a fire at a shelter after admiring the beautiful view, and a final day hiking with a small gift of cranberry picking.

The students concluded their experiences in Transylvania with the following lines:

"For me, the most interesting and beautiful event of the week was the visit to the thousand-year-old border and the barbecue afterwards, during which we had a nice chat with our hosts." (Sára Vágó)

"My favourite part of the week was the camping trip to the campsite and the breathtaking view from the top of the hill, and then the social evening afterwards with the people I love and am grateful to have met." (Anna Illés)

"It hurt even more to leave Commando than last year. It only takes one day at Kommando to enchant you, and we were able to spend another 3 weeks there, for which we are very grateful!" (Kata Récsei and Daniel György Pálfy)
